Who are we?

About Us

As mentioned on the home page, this is not a commercial site. We are just one family. We are the descendants of John J. Grace and Margaret Barbara Goeller of Lansdowne, Maryland. This site is for all of us and for those of you who may be related and would like to connect. It is also here as inspiration for others to document their own family histories. This site contains much family history. It is the organic culmination of research and family contributions. We all have memories and stories of and from our ancestors. What many don’t realize is that those stories and memories live with them and will not necessarily be passed on; and if so, perhaps not accurately. This is why it is important to record those memories, stories and experiences today. We have the advantage of computers, word processors, digital files and photos that our ancestors did not. The world we live in today implies an onus or a certain sense of responsibility to save, document and record our lives and those ancestors whom we have knowledge of for future generations.

Your own Family History

Family history is a profound exploration of our origins, serving as a bridge connecting us to our ancestors and their experiences. It encompasses the rich tapestry of our lineage, revealing not only names and dates but also the stories, struggles, and triumphs that shaped our family narrative.

Delving into this history can be both enlightening and humbling. Each generation has faced its challenges and celebrated its victories, leaving behind a legacy that impacts our present and future. Understanding our family history allows us to appreciate the sacrifices made by those who came before us and to recognize the values and traditions that have been passed down through the years.

As we navigate through historical records, photographs, and oral stories, we gather a mosaic of our ancestry. This pursuit requires diligence and respect for the lives that preceded us, acknowledging their individual journeys while recognizing the shared experiences that bind us together. Through this serious endeavor, we honor our forebears and gain valuable insights into our own identities.

In documenting your family history, consider engaging with family members to share their tales and perspectives, and explore local archives to uncover hidden gems. In doing so, you not only preserve the past but also create a testament to your family’s resilience and strength that can be cherished by future generations.

As you embark on this journey, remember that the path of discovery is a rewarding one. Each piece of information contributes to a larger story—a narrative that is uniquely yours. Your family’s history is not just about where you come from; it is about understanding the profound connections that define who you are today.
