The Aunt Rita Collection Home

About the Aunt Rita Collection

Our dear Aunt Rita went home to the Lord on August 2, 2000. Almost twenty years later in June of 2019, a treasure trove of old family photos was discovered in her home. Most of them were from the 1940s-1950s and many of them from the 1960s onward; but, some were as far back as the early 1900s.

I was entrusted to scan these photos. That project took about three years and was completed in November 2022. The photos have been colorized here because I wanted to see what “they” saw when they were capturing that moment. The original black and white scans are available on line as well to view and download. If you’re interested, send us a request in the CONTACT US section and we will send you a link. I hope you enjoy!

This section of the website is dedicated to hosting those photos. For the most part, they are displayed here as original scans. Some have been restored and others are awaiting restoration. Identifying the individuals in these photos has been an effort. There are some photos where the people are familiar but still labeled as “Unknown”. The photos are labeled to the best of our ability. If there are corrections, additions or comments, please visit the Contact page to let us know your thoughts. This is an ongoing endeavor making this an organic site-meaning it will be periodically updated as new information arrives and newly restored photos are completed.
